11.75x16.5in, ink on paper - 2023Memory can be stronger than reality. My mom showed me old photographs from a time when I was more mischievous, the flash from the cameras are brighter than I remember. The cake I cut for my 5th birthday wasn’t as ruined as I thought it was.
I am in fear of losing this time of my life and the people I love. It feels like I’m holding my breath, I can’t imagine anything else beyond who we are today. I say this despite becoming something I did not know I could be.
I have been forever changed by the people I’ve met, but some details about their voices or the ways they laughed escapes me, now. How can this be?
It’s like walking in sand and watching my footprints soften by the ocean, but I know where I’ve been. Time can also be a place, a room.
